Daily Life

The Dominican Republic is still considered a developing country, with three fifths of its citizens living in extreme poverty.  The country's primary sources of income include tourism and agriculture.  To this day, a good portion of the population lives in rural areas, with a mix of low scale farmers and elite landowners.
